Things were heating up in the Rockford/Manitoba game during the second period. No, it wasn't the IceHogs' goal scoring, unfortunately.
Mike Hardman flat out bowled over Cole Maier of the Manitoba Moose, to which their team took offense. Leon Gawanke came in to defend his Alternate Captain, and ended up on the ground, himself, after a brief wrestling match with Hardman.
Maier appeared to be uninjured, as he got in a scuffle with Busdeker, after he was clobbered by Hardman.
Both teams were assessed matching penalties, which seems really lucky if you're Rockford.
The Moose responded to that hit by scoring 3 more goals, making the score 5-1 in their favor, going into the 3rd period.
Mike Hardman had 32 points in 43 games with the IceHogs, last year. He also played with the Blackhawk for the past 2 seasons, on and off.
