Veteran NHL players land on waivers
As the regular season approaches, NHL teams are concentrating on cutting down their rosters. It means a lot of players are being sent to the junior squads and others are being waived in order to be sent to the AHL, if they're older.
This may be the first of many times when NHL veterans have to fight their way back up to the big league after being waived today.
A few Rangers and Avalanche players also landed on the waiver wire, including Riley Nash, who was part of the Columbus Blue Jackets squad that swept Tampa Bay.
Among the notables on the waiver wire is Anton Blidh, who played 84 NHL games for the Colorado Avalanche last season. The Rangers signed Nash to a two-way contract during the off-season. He has played 578 NHL games.
Joining them is Adam Guadette, who played 300 NHL games for the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Ottawa Senators over his career.
