Vegas Golden Knights Secure Former First-Round Pick Tobias Bjornfot off Waivers from their divisonal rival

Breaking news from the NHL – the Vegas Golden Knights have claimed 22-year-old defenseman Tobias Bjornfot off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.
The official announcement came via the Golden Knights' Twitter account, revealing that Bjornfot was placed on waivers by the Kings to facilitate the recall of top prospect Brandt Clarke from the AHL's Ontario Reign. Essentially, the Kings opted to replace Bjornfot with Clarke, allowing the former first-round pick to move on without a return.
Vegas is adding a skilled defenseman in Bjornfot, although he hasn't had extensive opportunities to showcase his abilities in the NHL. The smooth-skating Swedish blue-liner has only played one game this season and appeared in 10 games for the Kings last season. His most substantial NHL stint was in 2021-22, where he contributed eight points in 70 games. In his 117-game NHL career, Bjornfot has notched one goal and 15 points.

Selected 22nd overall by the Kings in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Bjornfot had notable success with Djurgardens in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) before transitioning to the AHL's Ontario Reign. While he's excelled at the AHL level, his NHL performance has yet to match those achievements. The move to Vegas provides a change in scenery, and fans are eager to see how he adapts.
It's anticipated that Bjornfot will join the Golden Knights' third defensive pairing alongside veteran Alex Martinez
