A trade completed between the Chicago Blackhawks and Seattle Kraken is now leading to one specific forward on the roster being forced out of the lineup.
The Chicago Blackhawks have completed several moves this offseason, and one of their completed trades with the Seattle Kraken is leading to a 23-year-old being the odd one out.
Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel has been involved in several trade rumors this summer after a disappointing 2024-25 season, which involved a controversy within the team.
With the latest acquisition of Andre Burakovsky from the Kraken, the Stanley Cup Champion forward is expected to push Reichel out of a roster spot.
Lukas Reichel deemed odd man off Blackhawks' 23-man roster
Reichel's now looking on the outside in, and perhaps his time taken for granted in Chicago could very well bite him back.
"That competition will push Reichel to a breaking point. If he can show his might in the NHL, he'll earn a strong role in the middle six. If not, he could soon find a path away from the Blackhawks organization."
In the coming weeks we may see Reichel on the move from Chicago, as general manager Kyle Davidson will have to lock in his finalized roster in the coming weeks.
