The Chicago Blackhawks finished the season with a 25-46-11 record, tallying 61 points, marking them second-to-last in the NHL.

That puts the Sharks with the best odds in the draft lottery for the second year in a row, with the Blackhawks having the second-best odds.
San Jose won the draft lottery last year and got the right to select Macklin Celebrini first overall. With the odds swung in their favor once again, according to NHL Insider Sheng Peng, Mike Grier said in an interview today that he'd be willing to hear offers for the no. 1 selection if the Sharks won the lottery.
If #SJSharks get the No. 1 pick, Grier says he's more willing to entertain offers for it than last year.

Not that he's giving it away, he'd be looking for a Herschel Walker/Ricky Williams-type offer.

"At the top, after Schaefer, it's probably more forward-heavy."
If you're the Blackhawks, you know you're picking in the top four, worst-case scenario.
You don't necessarily need Matthew Schaefer, because the defensive core is already set with the likes of Artyom Levshunov, Sam Rinzel, Kevin Korchinski, and Alex Vlasic.
The Sharks, on the other hand, don't have their defensive core settled out, and like Grier said, the top of the class is forward heavy.
So, if the Hawks get any other pick but first, does Kyle Davidson trade up or does he trust that the Sharks will take Schaefer and not someone like Michael Misa, Porter Martone, or James Hagens?
The Blackhawks need a high-end forward to round everything out.
Either way, a trade-up could potentially be whatever pick the Blackhawks get from the lottery and the Toronto first-round pick, or a second or third.
It could be worth it at the end, because at the end of the day, the Hawks need forward help.
