With news of WGN wanting to pick up CHSN games, the Chicago Blackhawks could once again find themselves in the regular viewing habits of fans, along with the Bulls, and White Sox, not to mention, could we get more coverage from Charlie Roumeliotis?

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, WGN TV has expressed interest in carrying sports again. This could be a relief for not only the Chicago Blackhawks but the fans who have had issues watching their favorite team on the CHSN, which has been a debacle since its inception.
From problems with streaming services, to carriage fees, the launch of CHSN has caused fans much dismay, including to their wallets. Something loyal fans shouldn't have to worry about.
But nevertheless, if WGN TV were to find a way to carry the Blackhawks games, it would negate the issue of carriage fees, as the TV station is already a fixture on Comcast/Xfinity and has an subscriber base of 1 million in the area.
If the deal were to go through, they would risk ruining an already terrible relationship with Comcast by undercutting them. Considering how they weren't willing to budge on negotiations, it's difficult to see that as a negative consequence when the Blackhawks have their own fan base to worry about.
At a Crain's Chicago Business event April 3, Bulls president Michael Reinsdorf accused Comcast of acting in «bad faith» during carriage talks and called its behavior «discriminatory.»

While CHSN is available over the air on WJYS Channels 62.2 and 62.3, plus Astound, U-Verse Cable, and DirecTV satellite, WGN would be the simpler option. It'd reduce the necessity of having to find multiple options, including FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, and CHSN's own consumer-direct app to watch the team.
If the deal were to take place, this wouldn't be the first time the Blackhawks have worked with WGN to air games, as in 2008, Rocky Wirtz made a deal to air 20 games on WGN TV, while the White Sox and Bulls games were still airing on the station.
Since the CHSN and Comcast deal failed, Danny Wirtz should make a course-correction and give the fans what they want: easily accessible hockey.
With WGN TV and owner Ric Harris willing to work with the team, they should be given priority over monopolies that won't budge on fees, and deliver the product that fans want.
