The Chicago Blackhawks have completed a move with their 2024 27th overall pick in the NHL entry draft, Marek Vanacker.
Us at Hawksinsider deemed Vanacker one of the biggest steals of the 2024 NHL draft, and it's surely become evident as of late.
The young forward has played three seasons in the OHL and posted a 82-point season in just 68 games leading up to the NHL entry draft, where the Blackhawks held a whopping three-first round picks.
This past season, he was sidelined due to injury but still managed to tally up 42 points in 45 games with the Brandtford Bulldogs, and in the post-season he recorded 11 points in 11 playoff games.
Sadly for the young prospect, he and his team were eliminated from the OHL playoffs, prompting the Blackhawks to take swift action.
General manager Kyle Davidson has assigned Vanacker to the Rockford IceHogs as of April 21st, as they prepare for a strong playoff push.
The 2006-born forward signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks in 2024 which will expire in 2027.
On April 19th, the IceHogs received a humbling loss by the Chicago Wolves in a 5-0 shutout loss, which highlighted the urgency for offensive talent.
Vanacker is set to join them as an immediate-impact in what will be his debut with an NHL organization in game 1 of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
