The Chicago Blackhawks will be signing former 6th-round draft pick Dominic James soon.

Dominic James will finish his collegiate career with the UMD Bulldogs in April, and the Blackhawks will sign him to his ELC as he intends to turn pro.
The former 173rd overall pick was selected during the 6th round of the 2022 NHL Draft, a Davidson pick.
Of course, Kyle Davidson has nothing but great things to say about him, describing him as a "spark plug" and a player who gives "relentless effort" on the ice.
He's been compared to Blackhawks forward Landon Slaggert who has found himself in the teams' lineup this season.
Now, at age 23 it appears he'll be following in forward Landon Slaggert's footsteps signing his ELC soon.
Both players have fire in their veins as they give it all on the ice, and have the offensive production to back it up.
''Dom is a spark plug,'' Davidson said. ''When you talk about consistency in young players, he's someone that you know what you're going to get every night. You know you're going to get a relentless effort.

In 29 games this season with the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs he's scored 25 points (11 G, 14 A) just a season removed from a dislocated shoulder which kept him out the entire 2023-2024 season.
James is a relentless forechecker and his style of play will benefit the Blackhawks organization once he arrives from Minnesota-Duluth.
He's made his choice to turn pro after this season, as he's believed they've treated him like a pro throughout the entire process and that says something even though he could turn UFA on August 15th.
It seems as if Kyle Davidson has earned his trust and buy-in, at times a hard thing to do if you remember the situation in Philadelphia with Cutter Gauthier.
''I'm really close with a lot of people in the organization, and it has been great for me,'' James said, mentioning that Minneapolis-based Hawks development coach Christian Burrus has been his primary contact. ''I would love to [sign with them].''

After he signs his deal he will begin his professional hockey career in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, and try to prove that he is an NHL-caliber forward.
Overcoming the odds, seems his forte, however.
