Team USA Ultimately Makes Regrettable Decision On Patrick Kane

The Four Nations Face-Off has begun, and Team USA is running hot with 3 points in a competitive tournament.
Despite the strong start for Team USA, there's a feeling across the NHL media that GM Bill Guerin is missing that special someone.
Guerin has opted to go with his draft selections this year, with Matt Boldy, and
Brock Faber instead of
Patrick Kane.
We think this is quite controversial, as he lets Patrick Kane sit on the sidelines in an important competition for Team USA. Guerin thought
Dylan Larkin should play, but not Kane? This seems like a question of not only oversight but preferential bias.
Not only does
Patrick Kane have the star-power but he has a legacy behind him, thanks to his time as a Blackhawk.
«It's a privilege and an honor to play for Team USA and you want to be on those teams,» Kane said earlier this season.
Kane is far from being a terrible, washed-up player as his last season with the Red Wings saw him post 47 points in 51 games.
That was after his recovery from a surgery that not many players can successfully make a return from.
There's never been a case for Kane where he's never suited up for Team USA until this season. He's suited up for U17, U18, and U20 tournaments, three IIHF World Championships, two Olympic Games, and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Overall, he's pulled on the USA jersey 59 times.
Every young American player looks up to him as the benchmark for US NHLers.
«He was basically our idol growing up,» Detroit forward
Christian Fischer said.
During the 2018 season, he scored 20 points (8 G, 12 A) in 10 games with Team USA.
He will no longer have the honor of putting on a Team USA crest in 2025, and it's a shame for the sport of hockey, and American hockey fans who have walls, and rooms dedicated to
the Blackhawks forward.
But GM Bill Guerin who oversees
the Minnesota Wild saw in all of his wisdom to sacrifice an idol to the altar of the hockey gods.
