Maurice is one of the longest tenured coaches in the NHL and has seen it all and he feels that a player like Bedard should try different positions to understand how to overcome any slumps or poor play has Bedard continues to find his game.
This statement comes on the heels of beleaguered Sports Network CHSN who was criticizing the lack of production from Bedard and the inability for head coach Luke Richardson to find a way to get him going offensively.
Richardson has changed the mix of his lines several times over the past number of games, and this has led to believe buy some as one of the causes of Bedard's issues.
Others feel that he is going through a sophomore slump which can happen to any NHL player especially high profile as himself.
It's likely that is simply the makeup of this team and the lack of depth that is also contributing to Bedard's scoring issues as the Blackhawks continue to remain in the cellar of the standings.
Recently, Richardson had tried him on the wing where he produced 2 assists but no goals it remains to be seen on whether he will continue that experiment or put him back at centre which is his natural position.
As the losses mount and the lack of goals from Bedard continues, the noise of the firing for Richardson will continue to grow louder.
Currently he has the blessing of general manager Kyle Davidson as he had given his blessing towards his coach even though the team has struggled.
The Blackhawks will wait to resume their season on Wednesday November 27th where they will be at home at the United Center to face off against their rivals the Dallas Stars.
Game time will be at 8:30 PM eastern.
