It was revealed earlier today that newly signed Blackhawks forward Tyler Bertuzzi has been accused of tampering.

It appeared that he was going to remain a Toronto Maple Leaf as several reports were released over the past days prior to July 1st that he was working on a deal with the Maple Leafs. It was revealed during his interview after he signed with the Blackhawks that forward Nick Foligno Had reached out to bertuzzi and convinced him to sign with the Blackhawks.

Bertuzzi explained that Chicago was not on his radar but was sold on the city, organization and the team itself.

«Chicago wasn't really on my radar,» said Bertuzzi. «The day before free agency, Nick Foligno called me and said that they (Chicago) were interested. I was obviously excited about that and things went on from there.»

«We just talked about the organization, the city, where to live, and things that are important to me and my family while obviously moving to a new city,» Bertuzzi added.

NHL has told fans over the years that tampering is not tolerated but it's becoming clear that there are many cases of this happening as players are locking new deals down even though it takes time for these deals to be crafted.

This was brought up also by former New York Rangers general manager Neil Smith when he spoke about this on a recent interview after spending some time at the NHL draft in Las Vegas. He states that many NHL executives have told him that tampering is rampant across the league.

It may be looked at more detail as these accusations become more prevalent.
