The Chicago Blackhawks could improve the lineup significantly if they can sign $65 million forward, Mitch Marner, a Toronto Maple Leaf, in the offseason.
In order to keep pushing the Chicago Blackhawks rebuild forward, the team needs to build around Bedard. That means backfilling the top-six with superstar forwards, or at least an ancillary 60-100+ forward in the top-six who can keep-up with Bedard.
One of those who is a free agent in 2025 is Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, who is a playmaking forward with an excellent shot.
This season, he's scored 102 points (27 goals, 75 assists) and has topped his 2023-2024 total of 85 points.
He'll be due a nice raise, and if the Maple Leafs and GM Brad Treliving cannot fit him underneath their salary cap, the Blackhawks could take advantage of their mismanagement.

Marner's current $65.41 million contract pays him $10.93 million AAV, and he could be due a significant raise. He could ask for money that his linemate, Auston Matthews, currently makes, which is $13.25 million.
While Kyle Davidson remained noncommittal on signing a superstar during the postseason, a rising salary cap offers teams like the Blackhawks rare opportunities that many contending teams who are sidelined by cap issues don't have.
One of them would be signing a superstar talent like Mitch Marner, whose relationship with the Maple Leafs could be soured after recent developments when the team attempted to trade him.
It was reported later in March that the forward shot down a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes, which would have sent him, the hometown Markham, ONT boy, down south for Mikko Rantanen, now a Dallas Star.
