Montreal Canadiens linked to acquiring Chicago Blackhawks' 35-point intriguing veteran
The Montreal Canadiens have been linked to a Chicago Blackhawks forward in a new trade rumor from a renowned reporter.
The preseason will provide a lot of answers for the Montreal Canadiens. All summer long, the big question surrounding the organization was about the second-line center.
Montreal Canadiens Linked To Chicago Blackhawks Center In New Trade Rumor
Of course, preseason games don't mean much, but if it keeps going into the regular calendar, the debate about the Habs' 2nd center will return.
Although Kent Hughes used funds to make significant acquisitions and
Sidney Crosby is included in the rumors, another report from The Athletic's Josh Yohe suggested that Montreal could go after the Hawks center
Jason Dickinson.
"This group has real juice in the top six. This is not going to be a playoff team.
Does Jason Dickinson make a ton of sense for the Blackhawks long-term? I think that's an interesting question.
He's definitely a capable third-line center. He immediately improves Montreal if he comes into Montreal."
The Canadiens have a promising future, with plenty of young prospects set to enter the league soon. Going after Dickinson wouldn't exactly fit with the team's management style, but it could happen if the Hawks are ready to part ways with him for a small return.
The 30-year-old veteran is entering the final year of his $4.25M AAV contract, a sum that the Habs could fully absorb, especially if they can get the player for a draft pick in the later rounds.
Last season, in 59 games with the Blackhawks, Dickinson scored seven goals and nine assists, with 38 penalty minutes and a -11 plus/minus.
