Member of the Blackhawks dynasty hits new all-time low following NHL contract termination

Brandon Saad is a former two-time Stanley Cup Champion and Chicago Blackhawk. Today his career hit an all-time low.
It was reported today by NHL Insider Chris Johnston that former Blackhawks forward was placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the NHL.
The forward has been a staple in the St. Louis Blues lineup since 2021, and has been placed on the bottom six due to his lack of production.
Saad is a former two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Chicago Blackhawks, and it's the last place you'd expect to see him.
On waivers, heading to the AHL.
However, Johnston would later update his status as Saad has decided to bet on himself, and his abilities and agreed to a mutual contract termination instead of reporting to Springfield.
By doing so, he's sacrificed a whopping $5 million, just to bet on himself as a free agent.
This is a bold move for Saad who had generated no interest from other NHL teams in a trade.
It's more than halfway through the NHL season, and he's sacrificed a significant sum of money to make this kind of decision.
Since no NHL team made an attempt to trade for him, you'd think he'd show some humility and brush up his game in the AHL. Instead, he's choosing a method of possibly sacrificing his entire career.
His glory days are long gone. This season, he's only scored 16 points (7 G, 9 A) in 49 games with the Blues.
Instead of grinding it out in the AHL--an assignment he hasn't had since 2013 in Rockford--he'll have to sell himself to another GM.
