The 30-year old defenseman is in his third year of a $9.5 million AAV contract with a full no-movement clause, signed to Jones by Stan Bowman, the former general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Having a full no-movement clause is certainly an issue, as Jones can void any trade Kyle Davidson cooks up to send the aging defenseman packing, offloading his whopping $9.5M salary being soaked up.
Jones' value on the trade market is certainly high, as a right-handed shot defenseman who is able to play top-pairing minutes per night.

«We'll be listening to see what happens. Nothing that we're going to certainly force.»
Three trade destinations for Blackhawks blueliner Seth Jones
The Hurricanes are a prime landing spot for Jones, as departures from Brett Presce,
Brady Skjei this off-season certainly took a hit on their defense core. Their top two defenseman,
Brent Burns and
Dmitry Orlov are set to become free agents this summer, giving them plenty of cap space. A Jones and Jacob Slavin top defensive pair could be intriguing for the Hurricanes, who look to go deep in this years playoffs.
Jones would, without a doubt, waive his no-movement clause to play for the Stars. The defenseman was born and raised in Arlington Texas, right beside Dallas.
Tyler Seguin, their veteran-leader on the ice is set to be placed on long-term injury reserve, opening up a whopping $9.9 million in cap space. Right-side depth is an issue for the Stars, who don't have much support aside from defenseman
Miro Heiskanen. Prospects such as
Christian Kyrou and
Mavrik Bourque could be key selling points that Kyle Davidson could potentially be interested in.
Seth Jones and a
Patrick Kane,
Alex DeBrincat reunion? The Red Wings are one team who currently have enough cap space to acquire Jones, and are in need of a reliable right-shot defenseman to have a 1-2 punch with former Calder Trophy Winner
