Over the past couple of weeks, former Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman has been rumored to be the next GM of the Edmonton Oilers and he received an interesting endorsement from former NHLer Sheldon Kennedy who is the co-founder of Respect Group.

A letter was shared on social media on Wednesday by Sheldon Kennedy stating that Bowman is ready to return to the NHL and has been working diligently and improving himself, recognizing what happened in 2021 with assaults on Kyle Beach and making sure that this would never happen again.

"I was immediately struck by Stan's genuine care and concern for Kyle, and what could have been done differently. During that period, we spoke almost daily about the seriousness of sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. We didn't talk about hockey at all. We focused on what went wrong, what he could have done differently and, most importantly, what could be done to prevent this from happening again.

«Stan exemplifies this to me. During our many conversations he took accountability for his actions and genuinely wanted to learn how to do better. His desire to acknowledge his mistakes and make amends with Kyle was sincere

It remains to be seen on whether Jeff Jackson will hire him as the general manager and the reaction amongst fans and NHL players who no now what happened and whether they would be willing to work from Mr. Bowman.

But according to multiple reports Jackson plans to announce his choice for general manager in the coming days.
