As the 19-year-old's contract is set to expire this off-season, Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard has just opened up on the route he's going to take with the organization this off-season.

Amidst a tough season in Chicago, wild trade reports have surfaced as Connor Bedard is in need of a contract extension due to the expiry of his entry-level contract quickly approaching.
Recent advisories from insiders sent a warning to Bedard, stating that his best option may be to hold off signing with the Blackhawks this off-season until he knows the organization has a stable plan moving forward.
But what's Bedard's plan for this off-season?
During an interview with the Chicago Tribune, the 19-year old made his thoughts for this off-season quite clear, and he only has one thing in mind.
And that's improvement. Bedard will be solely focusing on his on-ice game this off-season while teammates attend trips to the Bahamas.
«Change it up a bit,» Bedard told the Tribune. «I always work super hard, I think working extra smart and doing everything, (but) the big thing for me is just increasing my speed.

«That's going to be my No. 1 focus, and I'm talking to a lot of people and trying to figure out the science behind that. I think I can make a lot of gains this summer. (I'm) not focused on that yet, but when it does come, it could be a good summer for me.»

Bedard is in hope to figure out the science behind becoming an explosive skater, the 19-year old has been known for spending way too much time at the rink, even to the extent of the Blackhawks having to lock up his sticks at their practice facility, but that isn't going to change a single thing.
«(It's) figuring out just how your body can move at its best capability, whether that's physio or whatever, and just figuring that stuff out,» he said. «There's a lot that goes into it. Any acceleration and then top speed are what I think could help make me a better player, more dangerous player."

As the off-season quickly approaches with just three games remaining, Bedard continues to block out the loud outside noise and prioritize becoming a better player overall.
