It was revealed yesterday the Chicago Blackhawks are prepared to select Artyom Levshunov at second overall in this year's draft.

This was reported by Scott Powers who has a strong feeling that this is the route general manager Kyle Davidson, and his staff will go on June 28th. Much has been made about Ivan Demidov do to his phenomenal talent at offence which is also a need of the Blackhawks. But it appears that it's simply too difficult to pass up a mobile offensive defenseman of Levshunov's pedigree.

The Blackhawks have been very aggressive in terms of defensemen especially on the larger size as last year they drafted Kevin Korchinski, Ethan Del Mastro, Sam Rinzel and Wyatt Kaiser just to name a few.

Adding a talent as great as Levshunov is who had 35 points through 38 games with Michigan State of the NCAA, certainly makes the case for Davidson to draft him.

It will be an interesting 24 to 48 hours just prior to the draft as many teams will be looking to jostle for spots and possibly trade up. It remains to be seen on what Davidson will do but it appears that his mind is made-up.
