Chicago Blackhawks strip veteran of captaincy letter, grant it to Seth Jones as he returns from injury
The Chicago Blackhawks have dealt with several injury blows this season, including captain Nick Foligno and alternate captain Seth Jones.
When Foligno was out due to an 'illness', three-time Stanley Cup champion and off-season acquisition Pat Maroon stepped up.
Maroon did not take the C, but the A in a leadership role while Foligno was out. With Seth Jones being away from the team for the past three weeks due to an injury, Maroon stepped up as well and took Jones' A.
Unfortunately, with Seth Jones back, the Blackhawks have stripped Maroon of his A and granted it to Seth Jones.
It's unfortunate the circumstances in a fans perspective as many believe the team does much better without Seth Jones, and there is numbers to prove it- the Blackhawks won three straight games for the first time since 2022 last week with Jones out of the lineup.
