Former NHL enforcer, goon, Sean Avery reportedly meets with Chris Drury, New York Rangers general manager involving a coaching position
Sean Avery is an NHL veteran who retired before the 600 game mark, and with the way he played- it was likely in his best interest to do so before suffering any more concussions/injuries.
590 games total, 264 came from his time in New York with the Rangers, and now he is reportedly taking the appropriate steps to become the next head coach of the franchise following reports of a firing of current head coach Peter Laviolette incoming.
Avery was a pest, but knew how to get underneath anyone and everyone's skin.
"I have put my name in the hat officially for the head coach position of the New York Rangers. I have my staff already contacted. We've worked out everything, responsibilities... I'm actually thinking about having a co-head coach with Steve Ott."

Steve Ott? Another former fourth-liner of multiple NHL teams, including the St.Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars.
Paul Bissonnette came forward, stating he believes Sean Avery could be in the running to not only replace the head coach, but general manager Chris Drury.
"The one reporting I did land on though is the owner James Dolan still supports Chris Drury. In fact, James Dolan was aware of that memo Drury sent out last month that has now begun this free fall."
It appears the GM spot Avery is in search for may not be available- and if it were to be, other key options are better. But as a head/assistant coach, he would be a valuable option as he bleeds blue and red for the city of New York.
