The recent report suggests Colton Dach and Ethan Del Mastro were sent down to the Rockford IceHogs just an hour prior to the cut off for the trade deadline, for reasons you wouldn't expect.
Luckily, reports claim these two players were removed from the Chicago Blackhawks lineup strictly for the purpose to still be eligible to play in the Calder Cup Playoffs with the American Hockey League (AHL), for the Rockford IceHogs.
Take a look:
«Colton Dach and Ethan Del Mastro have been sent to Rockford so they can be eligible for the Calder Cup Playoffs. It's a paper transaction. They'll both play in Chicago tonight.»
It was also noted that they will be present in the lineup for tonight game against the Utah Hockey Club.
Another report was posted on social media today by Ben Pope, a well-known NHL insider, who confirmed this transaction was strictly a 'paper transaction'.
«Colton Dach and Ethan Del Mastro have been "papered" to Rockford to make them eligible for the AHL playoffs. Once the deadline passes, they'll be officially recalled. In reality, they never went anywhere.»
Furthermore, Ben Pope replied to his post and explains the team has now used up two of the four recalls eligible for the Chicago Blackhawks post-deadline.
