Blackhawks team name change controversy settled

Steve Maltepes, an online popular social media reporter has voiced his displeasure about sports teams changing their name due to potential violations of racism, and mentions the Chicago Blackhawks in it.

This falls back to 2020 when the NFL Washington organization changed their name to 'the Washington Football Team' and then the Washington Commanders.

"The Chicago Blackhawks' name and logo symbolizes an important and historic person, Black Hawk of Illinois' Sac & Fox Nation, whose leadership and life has inspired generations of Native Americans, veterans and the public,"

But the Wirtz family, who's responsible for owning the Blackhawks has made it clear they will not be changing their team name due to the historical personal of Illinois, who was Black Hawk of Illinois SAC and Fox Nation.

"We celebrate Black Hawk's legacy by offering ongoing reverent examples of Native American culture, traditions and contributions, providing a platform for genuine dialogue with local and national Native American groups. As the team's popularity grew over the past decade, so did that platform and our work with these important organizations."
Said Wirtz.

It seems as the Blackhawks will NOT be changing their name- and this debate can be put to rest.
