Chicago Blackhawks organization sends away top prospect Kevin Korchinski to Coachella Valley
Kevin Korchinski will represent the Chicago Blackhawks at the AHL All-Star Game as one of the team's top prospects.
This is only a year after he used a year of his entry-level contract to play a full season in the NHL.
While he'd play 9 games for the Blackhawks this season they felt it better for him to continue to develop in the AHL. The move has paid off, as he has earned an All-Star nomination.
Korchinski has scored 17 points this season (2 G, 15 A) in 31 games for the IceHogs, and has scored eight of those on the power-play.
Rockford IceHogs defenseman Kevin Korchinski has been added to the Central Division roster. Korchinski, joins IceHogs forward
Cole Guttman as the team's second representative.
.
Even in Anders Sorensen's absence, the IceHogs continue to develop great players, and Korchinski has shown promise.
This involved him jumping right from the
WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds to the NHL, instead of being sent to the AHL as he didn't meet the age requirements in 2023-2024.
This year, the team was able to give him more minutes in the AHL and develop his play which he has done remarkably well.
If you recall from the start of the season, he lacked the confidence he should have, expected of a first-round pick. But in the AHL he's found a way to create highlight-reel goals and maintain respectable production at even strength and while on the power-play.
Korchinski may not join his former teammates in the NHL just yet, but he'll play in the AHL All-Star Game and continue to flourish.
