The Chicago Blackhawks have placed their faith in center Connor Bedard, as he was given an Alternate Captain's patch today. The Blackhawks forward begins his 3rd-year in the NHL on a major high.
Bedard, who has played a total of 150 games in the NHL and won a Calder Trophy, has added another milestone to his career bucket list.
The NHL's account on "X" reported the news today of the former Calder Trophy winner sporting his new "A' patch in what is to be an exciting Original Six
match-up against the Red Wings.
Connor Bedard's New Role With The Blackhawks
With Bedard's new role in the Blackhawks organization, he'll be part of the leadership on and off the ice every night and day.
He's had a mentor along the way with
Nick Foligno, who took him under his wing carefully during the first year of his NHL career. Since then, we've seen him soar to greater heights, including scoring 128 points (45-83) in his first two years in the NHL.
While some of the responsibilities include being the go-between for the players and the coach, he'll have a chance to help influence the team's fortunes when speaking to referees about calls made, and in general, boosting the team's morale.
This is a great honor for Bedard, who has played a total of 150 games in the NHL and whose career is just beginning. Never fear about him leaving, either;
contract talks are ongoing.
He's had two 60+ point seasons, won the rookie MVP in 2023-24, and was nominated to an All-Star Game that season too.
His star just shoots higher and higher.
