Chicago Blackhawks linked to former 39-goal scoring forward
The Chicago Blackhawks were linked to a former 39-goal scorer set to hit the free agent market this summer.
After an encouraging end to the 2024-25 season, the Chicago Blackhawks could be among the teams to watch closely next fall. They've added many talented prospects to their lineup in the final stretch of the season, and if all of them start the year in the NHL, the team could be in a great position to have a breakout season.
However, with that many young players, it's essential to bring in veterans to lead the way, and that's exactly what the Blackhawks should do.
Even if they have a few good leaders in the locker room, the team should be looking into their options to bring in talent and experience.
According to a new report, the Blackhawks should go after
Andrei Kuzmenko in free agency.
Kuzmenko Emerges as a Top Free Agency Target for the Chicago Blackhawks
Set to become a free agent at the end of the season, Kuzmenko had a busy season that saw him traded twice: first from the Calgary Flames to the Philadelphia Flyers, then from the Flyers to the Los Angeles Kings.
He found his rhythm with the Kings, scoring 17 points in 22 games at the end of the season, before scoring six points, including three goals, in six playoff games.
He could have a significant impact on the Blackhawks' top six. During his first NHL season, he showed immense potential, scoring 39 goals. If he can reach that same level and manage to create some chemistry with the team's young guns, Kuzmenko could finally find a place to establish himself long term, after playing for four teams in his first three NHL seasons.
Many other teams will be interested in acquiring Kuzmenko this summer. If the Hawks want him, they'll need to make him an interesting offer.
