The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired a familiar player to fans from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a sixth round pick.

Blackhawks General manager Kyle Davidson is proving he is capable of asset management to the extreme following the free agent window opening at 12:00 p.m on Tuesday.
Sam Lafferty is heading back to Chicago, and it only comes at the cost of a sixth round pick.
Lafferty was traded by Blackhawks to the Toronto Maple Leafs which landed the organization a first round pick, in which they landed a 2025 first round pick.
The Blackhawks would then use that pick to select Vaclav Nestrasil 25th overall this past week at the NHL draft in Los Angeles.
In an official announcement, Lafferty finds his way back to his former organization in exchange for a 2026 sixth round draft pick.
