Two prospects for the Chicago Blackhawks are going to be unable to play in at least the next pair of preseason games per the latest report from coach Jeff Blashill.
The Chicago Blackhawks will not play again until Saturday, but they're going to be without two prospects whose
chances of making the team could be harmed.
Per head coach Jeff Blashill, both
Landon Slaggert and
Joey Anderson are going to miss at least the next 2 games, but that Anderson will be out longer.
Landon Slaggert skated today but remains day-to-day and won't play in either of the next two preseason games.
Joey Anderson will undergo a procedure for a chronic issue and miss the preseason, Jeff Blashill says.
The Blackhawks have not played since losing 3-2 to the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
Joey Anderson's chances of making the Blackhawks have been hurt
Because Anderson is undergoing surgery and won't be playing again for the rest of the preseason, his chances of making the Blackhawks' roster have taken a hit.
He was taken with the 73rd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils but has also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He came to Chicago when he was traded with Pavel Gogole and several draft picks for
Jake McCabe,
Sam Lafferty, and 2 future conditional draft picks in 2023.
In 2023-24, he played in 55 games for the Blackhawks and had 17 points (5G, 12A). He divided his time last year between the Blackhawks and the Rockford IceHogs.
Slaggert got in 33 games of experience with the Blackhawks last year and had 6 points (2G, 4A). With the IceHogs, he played in 39 games and had 25 points (10G, 15A).
