Blackhawks goaltender Arvid Soderblom on his way out of Chicago

Arvid Soderblom has shown that he can handle the responsibilities of playing in the NHL.
He brushed up on his game during the offseason with goalie coach Jimmy Waite, and it's paid off in dividends this year. He's achieved a record of 8-15-7, 3.05 GAA, and a .905 save percentage behind a Blackhawks team that isn't so good.
However, despite all of that hard work the
Blackhawks have promising prospects that are in the pipeline.
One of those prospects is Drew Commesso who saw limited action in the NHL this season, thanks to injuries that kept
Petr Mrazek out of the lineup, along with
Laurent Brossoit who remains on injured reserve.
Commesso is poised to steal the net in Chicago if he keeps playing like he does in Rockford.
Commesso has turned his season around after two dismal showings in the NHL with a .846 save percentage.
In the AHL with the IceHogs he's shown he's more than capable of managing a workload in the pros with 2 shutouts, and a .967 save percentage.
Commesso was a 46th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2020 NHL Draft, a GM Stan Bowman draft pick.
He began his professional career in the AHL with the IceHogs during the 2023-2024 season after heading to Rockford from Boston University.
Is it a sign that the
Blackhawks could find a new home for Arvid Soderblom in July? Commesso's play suggests that he's matured quickly in the net for the IceHogs.
