Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson Undergoes Life-Changing Surgery During 4 Nations Face-Off Break

The NHL pause this year wasn't during the All-Star Break, but the Four Nations Face-Off took place, which led to GM Kyle Davidson taking advantage of the time to fix an internal health issue.

He'd undergo a heart operation which would repair a pulmonary valve.

Which sounds very serious, if it wasn't caught beforehand. All the while he'd negotiate with the Florida Panthers for Spencer Knight, pre and post-procedure according to CHGO Sports Mario Tirabassi.

Kyle underwent open heart surgery, a prospect that is scary to anyone who has had to go through the procedure itself.

The reason he needed the open heart surgery? A congenital defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. He's been staring down the truth of the fact he'd need it sooner or later, and five years later he finally took care of it at an opportune time.

Behind the scenes footage revealed his wife, and young daughter braced themselves for open heart surgery, it was a tense moment for the Davidson family.

Davidson would make it through the thick of it, as he seems to be healthier, happier, and back to being focused on his family, and duties as GM of the Hawks.

Securing Spencer Knight was a vital trade that pushed the Blackhawks forward as a whole.

While more importantly, he'll have the longevity that he deserves for his family, as a father and husband.

Davidson is in his fourth year as the Blackhawks' GM and the rebuild continues unabated.
