Blackhawks Defensemen Threatened Management Moments Before Being Traded

We all know about Seth Jones, a defenseman who has worn the Blackhawks jersey since 2021.

He's been a feature in the lineup since our GM was Stan Bowman, and he was paid a hefty sum for a team who thought they'd compete for a Stanley Cup.

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were still competing here.

Until 2022 arrived, and the rebuild began. He became more vocal about the conditions in Chicago, which he found unacceptable as the team has failed to improve.

This with Jones being richly rewarded with a $9.5 million dollar contract. Kind of ironic right?

Well, he used his leverage with the media, and his agent Pat Brisson in order to make a trade happen.

Jones threatened Blackhawks management after going public during his interviews that he is interested in being traded, than only giving the Blackhawks management two alone teams he'd accept a trade too - giving Kyle Davidson zero room to work with.

Instead of letting Jones negatively affect the locker room, Davidson honored his demands.

However, the demands he issued seem impossible:

He'd only accept a move to either the Dallas Stars or Florida Panthers. Fortunately enough, the Blackhawks were able to finalize a deal with the team in the Atlantic Division.

Kyle Davidson did a great job considering the limited amount of time and leverage he had with all of this being sprung on him so soon.

Seth Jones really put the team in a rock and a hard place, after we consider it all.

Kyle Davidson is literally a miracle worker, restocking a needed position in the lineup, while getting rid of $7.0 million in cap space.

I'd buy you a beer, sir.

Afterward, the Blackhawks would defeat the Ducks 6-3 on home turf.
