Blackhawks Captain Just Said What Everyone Is Thinking About Seth Jones

The Chicago Blackhawks made the difficult decision to send defenseman Seth Jones packing during the trade deadline, and Captain Nick Foligno wasn't shy about his feelings after the trade.
The Chicago Blackhawks have found a solid leader in Nick Foligno, who has worn the "C" since the start of the 2024-2025 season.
He'd begin his tenure in Chicago, providing mentorship to Connor Bedard, and younger players who were making their way into the Blackhawks lineup.
However, one "leader" Seth Jones made overtures about a possible trade earlier this season, prompting Kyle Davidson to trade him just before the deadline kicked off.
He now wears a Panther's crest. While some fans like the decision, we weren't sure how Foligno felt about someone who he's known as a Blue Jacket, and now a Blackhawk.
But Foligno took the high road and told everyone what was on his mind. Foligno said, "There's a cohesiveness with the group. We've gotten rid of some distractions, so to speak, and now there's a group that's trying to get better.
"Sometimes when you make hard decisions, they end up benefiting the group, and you're seeing that."

The Blackhawks acquired a goalie with a huge upside in Spencer Knight from the Panthers with the trade.
And now, with Jones out of the lineup, the team is performing better than ever.
While Foligno may have kept to buzzwords with the statement using the word "distractions" we could assume he meant Jones.
He'd drive the media narrative for the Blackhawks, and insult the team's efforts in the media comparing them to a team that looked no different than they were in October under Head Coach Luke Richardson.

So it appears that even though Foligno might be sad that the team parted ways with someone who he's spent the majority of his career with, it has been beneficial to the Blackhawks as an organization, and a team.
And now Jones gets to hunt for a Stanley Cup.
