Anton Frondell joined by Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champion in Djurgardens

In exciting news today,Anton Frondell has begun playing preseason hockey in the SHL with Djurgardens IF.

Frondell has slotted in behind former Blackhawks forward and Stanley Cup champion, Marcus Kruger.

Last season, Frondell played 29 games in the SHL with Djurgardens IF and scored 25 points (11-14).

This year, he'll look to outperform himself in 2025-26 as a Blackhawks prospect in the SHL.

He'll be lining up behind the perfect mentor, too, in Kruger, who won two Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015.

Frondell recently signed his first NHL contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 15th, 2025. He'll make $975K AAV for the first three years of his career. The contract runs through the 2027-28 NHL season.

Frondell could find himself in NHL action sooner rather than later if the Blackhawks have their way.

Last season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound center, who's been compared to Aleksandr Barkov, earned rookie honors for his two-hundred-foot play and 25-point season in Hockey Allsvenskan.

We may not get an idea of how well he's developed until next year, when he could choose to show up for the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase. This season, he was loaned back to the Djurgardens IF in order to continue his development in Sweden.

The Blackhawks will look to take control of his development sooner rather than later, especially as a 3rd overall pick.
