Acquired: The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired their own Aleksander Barkov with a huge decision
The Chicago Blackhawks once again were awarded a top-3 pick in the NHL Draft Lottery after selecting 1st overall in 2023 and 2nd overall in 2024.
They selected Swedish forward Anton Frondell with the pick, who was one of the highest-rated forward prospects coming into the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, and he's already making Blackhawks fans excited with who he
would compare himself to.
I compare myself to [Aleksander] Barkov in Florida.
Frondell is still processing the feeling of being taken by the Blackhawks in the Draft, which he admitted to still being shocked over.
It's an amazing feeling. I'm still shocked. It was a blackout when I heard my name.
This year with Djurgardens IF in Sweden, Frondell had 25 points (11G, 14A) in 29 games.
He's already said that he's going to try and make the team out of training camp in the fall, but will return to play with Djurgardens IF for another year if he proves unsuccessful this year.
It won't be long, though, before Frondell is a regular in the NHL with the Blackhawks playing alongside
Connor Bedard.
