A trade price has just been confirmed: Patrick Laine's days in Columbus numbered
The Columbus Blue Jackets are thinking about trading winger Patrik Laine, who missed most of the 2023-2024 season due to a concussion and a broken clavicle, playing only 18 games and scoring 9 points.
After recovering, he was cleared to return to play.
The team is open to keeping some of his salary to help make a trade possible.
They are looking for draft picks and new talent in exchange, rather than current players, because of recent additions to the team.
Laine has two years left on his contract, with a yearly salary of $8.7 million.
General Manager Don Waddell explained that Laine wants to start fresh somewhere else but hasn't ruled out staying in Columbus if a good trade doesn't come up.
They're ready to explore all options to find the best fit for him, but if nothing works out, they'll have to accept the situation as it is, and hope he pans out in Columbus.
