The Chicago Blackhawks and GM Kyle Davidson dodged a bullet at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, as Kyle Dubas and the Penguins were seeking Frank Nazar and Two 2025 1st-round picks for forward Rickard Rakell.
It's no secret that Frank Nazar has become a staple in the Blackhawks lineup as he was promoted to the team's regular lineup. He's become a fixture in the top six, and imagine if GM Kyle Davidson traded him.
This season with the Blackhawks he's scored 16 points (10 goals, 6 assists) in 37 games.
He was originally selected 13th overall during the 2022 NHL draft.
Kyle Dubas and the Penguins Hustle
Dubas was busy shopping Rakell around as part of the team's ongoing rebuild, which saw the team ship off numerous assets this season, which sent Luke Schenn to the Winnipeg Jets, and Anthony Beauvillier to the Washington Capitals.
The deal GM Kyle Dubas and the Penguins were hoping for was exorbitant for Rakell, as Frank Seravalli confirmed the ask for the veteran forward.

The cost for Rakell would've been ridiculous, as Dubas and the Penguins were going to try and extract more value than he was worth.
That sounds ridiculous, as we all know Rakell is a great-depth addition to any organization. But the asking price of a top-prospect and two first-round picks is just highway robbery.
We're quite thankful that GM Kyle Davidson could see through that and never bit on someone like Rakell.
