Mrazek opens up on the real reason he re signed in Chicago
Petr Mrazek is an experienced goaltender who has found his stride with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2023-2024 season.
He has been a regular player in the team since being traded from Toronto, along with the Maple Leafs' first-round draft pick, in exchange for the Hawks' 2022 second-round pick.
Before joining the Blackhawks, Mrazek had been struggling in Toronto, but playing under Luke Richardson in Chicago has revitalized his career.
The team has offered him a new contract, which he has signed, with an average annual value (AAV) of $4.25 million and total compensation of $8.4 million.
This season, Mrazek has been performing well in Chicago, improving his save percentage from .894 last season to .907 this year.
Additionally, he is in his best physical condition since the 2020-2021 season, during which he played for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Mrazek has expressed his excitement about playing in Chicago and being part of one of the NHL's original six teams.
He's stated it's one of the best places to play in the NHL and he will continue to be a Blackhawk into the 2026 season with his new contract.
Mrazek has played 32 games this season, with a 12-17-1 record, and has a 3.01 GAA and a .907 SV%.
