The Calgary Flames didn't lose Matthew Tkachuk, Elias Lindholm, Tyler Toffoli, or Chris Tanev to the Blackhawks.
But they did lose their long-time, play-by-play announcer Rick Ball today, as the Blackhawks filled an institutional void.
Chris Vosters's firing left a void for the original-six organization to fill, and what better than a veteran of play-by-play calling!
The team would have to go to Calgary to find their best option, in Rick Ball. Ball has had 25 years of announcing experience and has called plays on "Hockey Night in Canada" since 2011.
He has also covered the Flames for the last decade, and was a coveted part of the organization by fans, as an announce whose knowledge of hockey isn't in question, unlike Vosters.
By the sounds of it, Pang helped sell the idea to Ball and the rest is history.
The Flames fans are going to be upset over this one for a while.
The Blackhawks have a veteran in the booth, to help make the games go much, much smoother after fans voiced their displeasure over Voster's abilities.
