Chris Johnston of TSN announced that the Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Van Riemsdyk to a one-year deal worth $900,000. The left-handed shot winger, will slide into Johnny Gaudreau's lineup slot- but Gaudreau will never be forgotten.
Oddly enough, JVR was selected 3rd overall in the 2007 NHL draft- which was hosted in Columbus.
There were rumors that 'JVR' might sign a PTO with the Seattle Kraken, but he ultimately chose Columbus, and now, he speaks out on the potential affect the locker room has endured with the loss of Johnny Hockey.
Many people were unsure if JVR would get another contract as it took some time, and with training camp around the corner, some thought his career might be over.
Now, he's with the past-seasons bottom-dwelling Blue Jackets, in hopes to provide his veteran presence for a run at NHL playoffs.
