Trevor Zegras to the Chicago Blackhawks? A Rumor Has Surfaced

Trevor Zegras signed a 3-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks in October of 2023, with an AAV of $5.75 Million, which means he has a controlled contract.

While his current AAV is kind of expensive, he might end up being a future RFA in the NHL needing a new start elsewhere.

With his production dipping, current frustrations showing up in his play, and throwing tantrums in the penalty box there are rumors about his next landing spot.

One of those places he's been tied to is the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks, who could benefit from his skillful and electric style of play.

His maturity may be in question, but that is a question that Davidson of course would have to find an answer to before moving to acquire the young playmaker. His elite skills paired with Connor Bedard could accelerate the rebuild exponentially.

However, one thing to consider is how much would the Blackhawks be willing to pay for Zegras. The buy-in wouldn't be cheap and a rebuilding team needs all the assets they can get.

This all depends on value, whether both teams can find agreement on value, and whether Kyle Davidson wants to spend draft capital and prospects on someone like Zegras, who could become a key player on the team's roster.
