Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Ole Julian Bjorgvik suffers scary injury on Sunday in AHL's Cleveland Monsters faced off against the Belleville Senators
A gut-wrenching scene took place today, and it involves a promising NHL prospect.
Ole Julian Bjorgvik, who is just 22-years of age and a towering 6'3" defenseman, was involved in a collision with Belleville Senators forward
Hayden Hodgson, that sadly has the potential to change his career.
The Blue Jackets drafted Bjorgvik in the 2020 NHL draft, and since he's searched for a full time role in pro hockey - whether it be the NHL, AHL or even ECHL, he has had a rough go at finding his footing.
He has finally found his footing with regular appearance with the Blue Jackets AHL organization, the Cleveland Monsters, but now he faces his most troubling setback to date.
On Sunday, he was unable to leave the ice on his own feet and had to be stretchered off the ice.
The player who threw the hit was ejected, and a fan who recorded Bjorgvik's departure from the ice described the scene as 'horrifying' [in all capitals].
Major love and prayers for Ole Julian Bjorgvik Holm who took a HORRIFYING hit into the boards.
Belleville's 42 given a five minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.
The player who hit Bjorgvik is an AHL forward who tallies over 100 PIMS (penalty minutes) per season.
We send our thoughts to Ole and hope for a speedy recovery.
