Training camps have swung into gear this week, and it appeared that Robin Lehner's contract was at risk of being voided, due to his absence from the first day of training camp. He was supposed to report for an exam to maintain his LTIR status for the Golden Knights.
But according to Lehner's statement, he contradicts the team and it feels like the two camps might be at odds in their narratives.
Did Lehner fail to meet expectations for the Knights and the NHLPA?
Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon would address the situation and attempt to remain diplomatic as the mess spills online.
It's hard to see what the truth is, in this situation which remains opaque as both sides have their own version of events.
This is more a less a blame game occurring, as the finger-pointing will continue in public until the NHLPA does an investigation regarding the situation.
It's likely true that Lehner can't participate in training camp due to his injury status, there's was it a case of McCrimmon and the Golden Knights believing otherwise?
It's a mess, and there's no real way to discern the truth now, as the Golden Knights probably wish he'd show up to camp, and Lehner for all intents and purposes can't.
