Report - Canadian team is making efforts to acquire Marc-Andre Fleury
Rumors are circulating that Marc-Andre Fleury could be on the move to a Canadian team looking to make a push in the playoffs.
According to NHL insiders, the Minnesota Wild are interested in trading Fleury and there's one playoff team that could be interested in acquiring the veteran goalie.
That team is believed to be the Edmonton Oilers, led by general manager Ken Holland.
With the trade deadline fast approaching after the All-Star break, many teams are expected to show interest in the former Stanley Cup champion.
The Oilers have had some goaltender troubles this season and an overhaul of the coaching staff.
Fleury could potentially be the answer to their problems, as he has the experience and skill to help the team make another deep playoff run.
While
Stuart Skinner has been a consistent performer, he hasn't had a reliable backup to help him shoulder the load.
However, acquiring Fleury may require the Oilers to give up important assets. The team has already added
Corey Perry to consolidate their lineup for what could be Holland's last playoff run as Oilers GM.
