NHL Analyst Calls Out Gary Bettman's Issue That's Affecting The Chicago Blackhawks, and the Entire NHL

The Chicago Blackhawks have been one of the most active team's when it comes to trading. This off-season the Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson traded away both Alex Dabrincat and Kirby Dach, but still haven't had much luck when it comes to dealing Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

It's not because of the talent as both are still very important players in the League and could definitely help a team compete for a Stanley Cup. It's more due to a struggle most teams in the League are facing and that's the salary cap.

Team's want to make moves but are struggling right now in fact, According to Hockey Insider Brian Macramalla, the salary cap is hurting many teams from making trades like previous years.

1) 12 NHL Teams have no cap space
2) 17 Teams have players on LTIR
3) 27 Teams have less then $3M in cap space
4) Many teams want to make trades but can't because of no cap space
5) Player movement is great for the game and generates interest

Time for more flexible approach to the cap. - Brain Macramalla

I think a have to agree with Macramalla, the NHL needs to work out a way to improve this so team's aren't so handcuffed to the cap but keep it fair enough still so all 32 team's have a decent playing field.
