Nico Hischier suffers gruesome skate blade cut at World Championship

The New Jersey Devils suffered during the 2023-2024 regular season, thanks to injured piling up. This caused a setback as the team failed to secure a post-season berth.
Joining those injured, was the Captain, in the IIHF with Team Switzerland whose face was lacerated.
When the Swiss team took on Team Czechia, Hischier took the puck to the net and lost his footing, sliding into the Anaheim Ducks goalie
Lukas Dostal.
In doing so, he would collide with Czechia's defenders and suffer a face laceration.
Luckily enough, it wasn't a skate blade as Hischier would get patched up in the locker room and return to competition.
He returned to the ice, wearing #49 instead of his original #13 which was covered in blood. The nameplate of course, would also be blank for the Captain ironically.
Hischier wouldn't miss the rest of the match, clocking 21:54 time on ice, while
assisting
Kevin Fiala on a goal against Team Czechia securing the 2-1 victory.
Switerzland have now pulled ahead in Group A, with 8 points, winning two games in regulation play, one in overtime play as well.
