Justin Bieber Wants to be an NHL Owner

Yes... that's right Justin Bieber, who is worth $285 million has "kicked the tires" on the idea of purchasing the Ottawa Senators. With the tragic passing of Eugene Melnyk, his two daughters may keep the team, or sell it.

Bieber, who is 28 years old, was born in London, Ontario. He has been an ardent hockey fan and has hung around with the likes of Auston Matthews. If he was successful in purchasing the team with a worth of $525 million, he would be the youngest owner in professional sports.

Just think of what it would be like if Bieber were the owner of the Senators. He could promote his music career as well as his hockey ownership interests. Say, have a couple of pregame concerts to draw in the crowd. The game promos alone would be off the charts!

The Senators rank dead last in attendance in the NHL this season averaging just 8,191 fans per game. Would having Bieber as an owner, who is familiar with the game, help increase attendance figures? You bet it would. He'd be a marketing gold mine for the team. The possibilities are endless.

Bieber has over 114 million followers on Twitter.

With a following like that, he's bound to draw fans through the turnstiles, but would he be able to run an NHL team? Why not? He's a super pop star and knows what it takes to be successful. He knows how to hire the right people to ensure his music career is running smoothly. He could do the same thing in running a hockey franchise.

His influence could also assist in getting the Senators a long overdue downtown arena they have been seeking. Gary Bettman, are you ready for Justin Bieber to become an NHL owner?

For Bieber it would be a dream come true. He has played in celebrity hockey games and loves the game.

While it may not happen, it's worth some thought on how Bieber would impact the game. After all, the Arizona Coyotes have the first Hispanic NHL owner in Alex Meruelo, so why can't Ottawa have the youngest NHL owner?

Let's see how this all plays out going forward.
