The Detroit Red Wings have fought to stay relevant in a playoff battle that continues to tighten.

The team pulled it together and with David Perron's help would secure a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Amalie Arena. The feeling of beating a divisional rival soundly is a great one.

But forward Michael Rasmussen would depart the game, as a result of taking punishment during the bout.

According to Head Coach Derek LaLonde, he will be out of the lineup against the hot, New York Rangers at home in Little Caesars Arena. He may be out of the lineup Sunday as well against the traveling Buffalo Sabres.

Rasmussen is a depth forward who has provided needed secondary scoring for the Red Wings.

In 75 games this season he has 33 points(13 G, 20 A), with 124 hits and 76 blocked shots.

Rasmussen has proven his reliability to the squad and was rewarded with a four-year contract which begins in the 2024-2025 season.

As a result of the injury, forward Daniel Sprong will draw in, he has been a healthy scratch for the past seven games. Albeit he is one of the better offensive forwards for the team, posting 40 points(17 G, 23 A) in the first year with the original six team.
