In bad news for the Chicago Blackhawks, whose injury list had been improving progressively, the roster will be missing a key depth player against the Anaheim Ducks.

Colin Blackwell, left the game Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, and wouldn't return to the ice.

The play which caused Blackwell to leave the ice, was at 11:24 when Kevin Fiala hit him alongside the boards in the 3rd period.

Blackwell has suffered an upper-body injury which is why he won't be in the lineup tonight. Head Coach Luke Richardson hasn't been updated on his status yet, but Blackwell has been skating, which is hopeful.

It's been a rough year for Blackwell, who spent 10 months off the ice after complications from his March 22nd sports-hernia surgery.

Blackwell has been one of the team players who have embraced the next-man-up ethos and scored his first career hat-trick recently, with his linemates Jason Dickinson and Joey Anderson being one of the best lines for the Hawks this year, being matched up against some team's top lines.

The Blackhawks will be in Anaheim tonight and will conclude their three-game road trip Saturday against the San Jose Sharks.
