With an overtime win, Patrick Kane and the Detroit Red Wings denied the Chicago Blackhawks their hopes for a victory.

He scored the winning goal to put the Wings over the Hawks 3-2 and put an end to the Windy City's hopes.

In a continuation of their hot streak, former Blackhawks Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane dug in their heels.

Ironically, former Detroit Red Wing Petr Mrazek was in net in this game of opposites.

In that overtime goal, Kane showed that showtime is back after surgery, with a wrist shot to the top of the goal.

«I had a move in my book in case it got to a breakaway tonight and stuck with it and it was nice to see it work,» Kane said in the wake of last night's win.

«I just wanted to slow down, maybe get the goalie to move back a little bit and then try to just float it in the top corner.»

A lot of fans were enthralled by the uncertainty surrounding Kane's return to the United Center. The hip-resurfacing surgery, however, was a success, unlike Nicklas Backstrom, who had trouble recovering from the surgery.

«This group has been unbelievable to me, welcomed me in and shared these moments,» he said. «The guys giving up the assistant captain for me today, pretty special, too. Just things like that. There's a lot of camaraderie in this group. It feels good to obviously score that goal. Even bigger to get a win against these guys.»

Kane has been a point-per-game player since his return to the ice.
He has described his new teammates, as "Unbelievable" which is understood considering one of his linemates, is Dylan Larkin.

Kane has been what he has been advertised as and more, as the Red Wings are quickly ascending into the playoffs, for the first time since 2016.
