A scary scene unfolded as a young Chicago Blackhawks prospect took a skate up high at practice.

The Chicago Blackhawks players are back on the ice today for the second day of rookie camp ahead of the Prospect Showdown, which will happen over the upcoming weekend in Minnesota.
Two games are scheduled for the weekend: the first one against the St. Louis Blues and the other against the Minnesota Wild.
Today, in an intense training session, a major incident occurred, which highlights the high competitive level of the young prospects.

Blackhawks Prospect Takes Skate In The Face, Punches Opponent Before Leaving The Ice

In a scary scene, A.J. Spellacy, the Hawks' third-round pick in 2024, received a skate blade to the face and had to leave the game.
When the 19-year-old was returning to the locker room, he didn't like a comment from Aidan Thompson, a 2022 third-round draft pick.
He took a small detour before leaving the ice to hit Thompson.
Check out the wild scene here:
Spellacy, who signed his entry-level contract with the Hawks earlier this year, is likely to return to the Windsor Spitfire next season, although he could be eligible to play in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs if the NHL and the NHLPA agree to put the rule into effect sooner, like they did with the playoff salary cap.
Last season, he scored 18 goals and 19 assists in 62 OHL games.
As I've mentioned before, this shows the high competitive level on the ice, but it could also hint at a lack of maturity for the young man.
It'll be interesting to see how this will affect the way he's perceived by the Blackhawks' management and coaching staff.
Updates on his health are expected. Stay tuned.
