Mysterious Blackhawks player identified on ice today in Chicago

The Blackhawks are back on the ice, with the rookie camp currently going on in Chicago.

The prospects are preparing for the Tom Kurvers Showdown set to take place on September 13 and 14, while veterans are preparing for the training camp and the preseason, which will kick off on the 23rd against the Detroit Red Wings.

Today, a surprising player was on the ice during the team practice.

It's PTO season in the NHL. Teams are gearing up for camp with last-minute signings of professional tryouts. Veterans who had limited offers in free agency often get a shot with a team on a PTO, and it appears this is what could happen here.

Indeed, former Hawks defenseman Jarred Tinordi was on the ice.

The 33-year-old, 6-foot-6 defenseman was training with the team, suggesting he could get an invitation to training camp.

With the Hawks' lack of experience at the blue line, adding a big player like Tinordi could be an interesting option for Kyle Davidson and Jeff Blashill.

Drafted 22nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2010, he has taken part in 205 NHL games since, spending most of his career in the AHL.

He played 96 games for the Blackhawks between 2022 and 2024, where he scored 17 points and tallied 104 penalty minutes.

He spent last season in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers. In 30 games, he scored five points, including one goal, with 29 penalty minutes.

While no confirmation about his future in hockey has been made, don't be surprised if Tinordi ends up signing a professional tryout in Chicago.
